Spoke to Noah Jones about broadcast season yesterday. Here's what he said... 1) Pulled back Fat Loser because the responses were bad. Didn't want people to think of us as writers they do not like.
2) Bad Dads hasn't been doing crazy well either. Mostly passes with no reason, which he doesn't think means the writing is bothering people necessarily. He thinks we will still have options with this script... BUT.... 2A) He also said this should not alter the plan of "use bad dads as way in and then go pitch matchmaker" and he has a couple of pitches he is going to set up... (MORE ON THAT, BOTTOM OF PAGE) 3) Calendar Year: Noah said comedy always comes after drama development. Not a lot of purchases have been made yet. Meeting with pods in September is fine. Late September meetings are fine. Studios keep money in the coffers. Would he like it to be earlier? Yes. But stuff happens in October too. 4) SPEC SEASON: If we do not set up our specs - specifically BAD DADS — this summer, Noah thinks we can take it straight to the studios in Nov./Dec. Straight to Kate Adler, specifically. He thinks that should begin in late November. 5) WHAT TO WRITE: don't try to predict trends in the market. But multi-cams are still the order of the day, so stick with those. SPECIFIC MEETINGS NOAH MENTIONED HE WOULD GET: - Jamie Tarses - Maya Glickman at Shay Mitchell's company Then we also have Simon Heuer at NBC and Colin Davis at TBS and a meeting with JAX --- all probably late September it's looking like. All set up by Austin and Greg.
