Already outlined the pilot for friends. Re-read that script today. Want to take ten or so minutes just writing my thoughts, see what comes of it. What's the point reading if there's not some thinking after?

I realized today that it's hard to transition from finishing a draft or script and move on to the next thing. It seems crazy but we really haven't had a process in place for that up to this point. And we really need one, because I am not happy if I am not being productive creatively. So we hashed out a plan and I'm leaving it here so we don't forget it exists. The below sums up what we should do from here on out whenever we're looking for a new project.. It should be especially useful if we are waiting for notes on stuff etc., but still want to make progress on a new idea in the mean time.
Great script. It sparkles. Great script to reference as we write our musical short... Outline on next page.
The Millers by Dan Fogelman. Good for a show featuring older parents and their adult offspring. Outline on next page...
Dan Fogelman has had an amazing career that many I'm sure would like to emulate. We are among them.
The Neighbors doesn't get a lot of love, but this is a great pilot, and a script we have drawn much inspiration. So many elegant little moments re: keeping the tension alive, making the story personal. Stuff like that. And the action writing has quite a few lines we could learn from. Outline and notes on that stuff on the next page. |

NOTEThese outlines are not polished and they are not politically correct. They are bare bones and often do no justice to the script or the writers of said script. Posting the outlines here so they can be easily referenced when working on new pilots. Also thought they might be helpful to other writers out there. Archives
