Another sitcom that needed more love. This show was often hysterical, and the pilot was crisp and clear and simple and wonderful.

Written by Suzanne Martin

  • Parents give up first kid to college.
  • Are sad in cab ride about it.
  • Send second kid off to another college.
  • Are sad about it.
  • Go home and realize that they’re free.

ACT ONE

  • parents dismantle old play room. It’s four years later and they’re finally free of college tuition. Now they’re really happy.
    • Grandma and grandpa show up. They are moving to florida to retire, somike and martina are ESPECIALLY happy.
    • Finally the old folks leave and m and m decide to smoke the girls’ pot that they found.
  • They are high and just chilling but then someones at the door
  • LIVING ROOM: Stella enters with her bags. Then Shea. Then the grandparents burst in and say they have to stay too.
  • ACT OUT: This is bad. Everyone is back.

ACT TWO
  • mike is distraught and venting to his friend at the helicopter tour place. Then stella’s bf shows up and asks for advice on how to get it back. Mike resists but then shares the advice.
  • Back at home the girls are making a mess and talking about their problems. Stella helps Shea (cosgrove) with a boy problem. But mike and martina still want to get away from them (despite liking the company)
  • The mom and dad are at a hotel for escape but the girls text and drive them crazy so the parents decide tomorrow they will send them packing.
  • IT’S TOMORROW: they try to kick the girls out but then the dad decides they can stay bc he doesn’t wanna be like his own shitty dad. Then stella’s BF shows up and proposes to Stella.
  • ACT OUT: Stella says yes when the stupid BF proposes to her.

TAG
  • Mike and Martina flirt. She goes off to put on something sexy.
  • Then the grandpa comes in and bitches about the gift Mike got him and they have a strange father/son/parenting bonding moment, then a misunderstanding.
  • ACT OUT: Mike and his dad have a comedic moment.

Note: Interesting that the kids were invading the parents in this version. Could be a way into Larry United. Probably not though. Also they did a good job adding the father/son angle to give this some depth and heart etc. That element helps this pilot stand apart.

    NOTE

These outlines are not polished and they are not politically correct. They are bare bones and often do no justice to the script or the writers of said script. Posting the outlines here so they can be easily referenced when working on new pilots.  Also thought they might be helpful to other writers out there.

    Enjoy!
