Happy Endings - Outline

Good reference for a broadcast show featuring a group of friends. Strong comedy, tells the story of a breakup. Shows friends who love each other but not in a cheesy way. Good characters. 

p.s. pretty sure this is only like half an outline so we should read again and finish and think more deeply about this one for a while. it's a good script.

• Some guy rushes out of a bar to stop a wedding
• Alex and her bridesmaids get dressed, prep for wedding
• Guy gets caught in traffic.
• Alex is at the altar. The guy bursts in and she leaves with him
• Back to Dave, all alone in the church 

ACT ONE

• the three friends talk. They can’t believe this happened. They think dave’s okay though
• dave isn’t okay. He’s crying while he drives.
• The gang wonders how this will effect the friend group and their annual ski trip. Then they come back to the idea that Dave is gonna be fine.
• The gang shows up at dave’s. he’s depressed. They try to help him.
  
• Dave has flashback to a strip club.
• They take Dave to a loud bar. Use dave’s famed youtube humiliation to get a girl
• Dave and hot girl burst into the apt, making out.
• The Next Morning: Alex shows up. 

ACT TWO ( -22)

• Alex reveals she went on the moon alone, not with the guy. Then Dave’s hot girl wanders in from the bedroom.
• Alex at gym with friends. Realizes dating is gonna be hard. Plus she pisses off the slutty friend. SLUTTY FRIEND announces her b day is gonna be at a restaurant or something.
• The guys help Dave pack up. Dave decides he’s gonna move in with max.
• Alex tells slutty friend that she’ll attend party, even if Dave her ex goes too. Slutty friend reveals that she met her new guy on J date, but she’s not jewish.
• At Daves: He assures the guys he’s gonna be fine going to party even if Alex is there.
• AT PARTY: Dave shows up with slutty rebound girl, wasted.

ACT THREE (23-­

• Dave introduces his “gf” to Alex. Both Alex and the girl are surprised by it.
• Jane orders “water” secretly indicating to waiter that it’s vodka
• Penny intro’s her guy and Max realizes that the dude is gay
• Reveal: Penny lied about her age. Also Dave’s girl reveals that she’s in HS
• LATER: It all devolves. Every lie comes out. Alex and dave blow up. But then they make up.
