Only You - Outline

This was made into a movie starring M. Tomei and R. Downy Jr. It's a whimsical romantic comedy. Good for fun relationship moments and how to use the ideas of magic, superstition and fate in a way that works.

1. Faith learns that Damon Bradley is her soul mate. Her brother asks a lot of questions, justifying why this guy is gonna end up basically in the same town.
2. 3 Years Later. Faith and her friends argue about the existence of true love as they try to decide what to ask the fortune teller at a carnival.
3. A fortune teller corroborates the Oujia Board from scene one. Faith is meant to be with Damon Bradley.
4. 20 Years Later: Faith is still hell bent on True Love, and we learn that attitude hasn’t necessarily served her well to date.
5. IN THE KITCHEN: Kate takes a call from her hubby.
6. BACK IN THE LIVING ROOM: The other girls listen as Kate and hubby fight. They keep trying to talk Faith out of her love fantasies.
7. Out in the hall, the girls keep tyring to sell Kate on settling without the thrill of true love.
8. Faith’s mom hassles her about getting married.
9. Faith has a nightmare that she’s going to have to settle.
10. Faith and the nightmare guy are engaged, and this is their party. Clearly it’s not a great relationship.
11. Faith gets a call from her fiance’s old friend… DWAYNE BRADLEY. And he’s on his way to Venice.
12. She tries to catch him at the airport but misses him.
13. Faith decides to follow him there.
14. Her friends try to talk her out of it, but she insists: True Love.
15. Kate decides she’ll join Faith on the trip.
16. The plane takes off. Faith is afraid to fly.

 
ACT II
 

1. They land in Italy. There’s a lot of available men around.
2. The sisters sail of towards Venice in the twilight.
3. They realize it’s an expensive hotel. Kate’s freaking out but Faith convinces her it’s fine.
4. BUT Damon Bradley already left.
5. THEREFORE she goes out in search of him, BUT she doesn’t find him.
6. THEREFORE she decides to search his room, where she finds an Italian note about where to find him, where a girl named ANNA at some store supposedly knows him.
7. THEREFORE she goes to Rome to find him.
8. BUT they break down on the way there, finding time to discuss life and love.
9. MEANWHILE Larry and Dwayne talk about their women.
10. Back in Tuscany, the girls hitch hike and get a ride with a nun who is drinving a Ferari.
11. In Rome, they learn from Anna that Damon is a pig. BUT they also get a location of where he’s gonna be that night.
12. That night, they see Damon in the bar. But they lose him.
13. THEREFORE they chase the guy they think is him into a crowded subway.
14. BUT they lose him in the subway.
15. BUT then he approaches ‘cuz he’s the guy that found her other shoe.
16. Therefore they have some magical date times together. This is a FALLING IN LOVE MONTAGE.
17. BUT then we learn that he’s not Damon Bradley.
18.  Faith is very upset at the hotel later.
19. Peter comes by the next day. Tries to convince Kate to help him.
20. Kate gets along with her Italian BF.
21. Faith wants to go home.
22. Peter tries to convince Faith to stay. She refuses.
23. Peter stops Faith at the last second. He can help her find Damon Bradley .
24. They drive towards Positano, where DB is. But Faith starts to feel unsure, as this guy apparently reads Hustler?
25. Faith meets a slob, thinks it’s DB. But it’s not. DB is actually a god.
26. Faith meets the real DB. Sets up a dinner.
27. Peter sees Faith before her date. It’s clear they should be together and that he still wants that.
28. Faith has a rocky start to her date with DB, especially when Peter shows up with his date at the same place!
29. Then there’s a proposed double date for a night out on a row boat or something…
30. The DB date goes horribly and then we learn that Peter set it up. It was all a scam so he could get Faith back!
31. Pete and Faith make up. He’s not telling her what he did.
32. Kate says she’s leaving her lover, choosing her life at home.
33. Faith calls off her wedding
34. Kate’s hubby shows up to show he’s willing to work on this relationship.
35. Faith learns that Damon Bradley was a phony.
36. Faith and Peter fight. She knows that he faked it.
37. Faith gets her plane ticket from actor DB, who actually is an actor slash ticket guy.
38. We learn that Larry invented DB as a joke. He even paid the Fortune lady to say it when they were kids! Well, DB is real, but he’s just some jerk.
39. Larry chickens out. He won’t tell Faith the truth .
40. Faith is going to stop Peter in his plane. She chooses to take her opportunity to slip onto his plane instead of going back in search when DB is announced at the airport.
41. DB spots Larry and Kate and intros himself. “This is my friend from little league!”
42. Faith gets to Peter on his plane. Gives him a cooler – the one she pretended had an emergency heart transplant in it to get on the plane – and it has a chocolate heart in it. But she assures Peter that she brought the real thing too.
43. The end.
