Sunset PPL - Outline

NBC made the pilot but that's all that happened. This show balances an ensemble well. It uses comedic games to keep the funny up.  We should re-visit it when we write shows about friends.

COLD OPEN
  • everyone is on a phone call
  • jack wants to date Amanda and his friends also have some stuff going on
 
ACT ONE
  • Talia wants to couch surf. She’s here to follow her acting dreams in LA.
  • Jack confronts Dougie. He doesn’t wana give up the couch.
  • Talia is annoying and wants to go see all of LA but the others have commitments etc.
  • That night jack jumps in bed with Talia. They’re gonna share this thing.
  • Robbie promises he’ll keep talia away from Andrea. Also she learns for the first time that he texts his mom at night even though they’re married.
  • Jack and Talia are cat and mouse. Jack reveals that he lost his girl of 7 years when he moved to LA.
 
 
ACT TWO
  • Jack and Dougie will go watch how Jack’s girl responds physically to his texts. That way they  can gauge the subtext, based on her body language
  • They begin the ruse
  • Cutaway to Robbie lazy at home as talia leaves to go meet her casting director
  • Anj tries to give it to talia straight about leaving Hollywood but talia doesn’t wanna leave. Then talia realizes that her back east bf is now single on facebook. The girl Jack likes calls Doug cutie at the bar.
  • Anj and Talia make up. Anj defends Tal to her shitty ex.
  • Jack realizes through Doug’s recon that he’s the bartender’s PLAN B.
 
ACT THREE
  • Talia points out all their flaws to them. They defend themselves. Jack takes a chance and calls his girl. She prefers to text. She texts him that she’s seeing someone.
  • The end.

  • All the Randy’s meet each other
