Traffic Light - Pilot Outline

Young dads. Good show that explores a theme through every character. Also I remember lots of this even though it's been years since I read it, so that says something. Balanced stories and brought them together well.

ACT ONE (1-7)

• meet the guys and their situations. One moving in with his gf. One hiding from wife in car. One is in a ship that’s been a month and that’s his longest.

 
ACT TWO (8-22)

• mike helps adam and callie move into their apartment (that a and c share). Get some backstory on the guys and their friendship together.
• Adam’s boss asks him to help get wrestlers at boss’ kid’s mitzfah
• Ethan’s girl dumps him. Been one month. (just touching back on each story that was set up in the CO essentially in this act so far)
• Note: They do a good job showing people in their lives, not just like at cafes or some shit. Ethan as he’s getting in his ambulance etc. helps hammer home the single camminess.
• Ethan processes breakup on phone with Adam. Adam tells him to stop fearing commitment. Ethan calls Mike but hangs up cuz mikes’ wife is in car.
• Mike’s wife is offended that mike said she was in car.
• Mike at ethan’s bitching about his lack of freedom.
• Adam gets invited to go out with the boys but Callie wins the domestic dance and basically won’t let him go.  Interesting: set this scene against wii boxing.
• The guys get hot dogs the next day. Talk about how they are maniupalating the women in their lives (including the cashier). Also furthered the story of don’t tell secrets cuz my wife will be in the car and this is how you get your girl to let you out for the night
• Mike’s wife catches him giving signals about her being in the car

 
ACT THREE

• THREE OF  the guys eating, talking about the code for is wife in car
• PHONE CALL: Adam loses wrestler for mitzfah. Friend says he’ll be the stand in
• Mike gets caught using codes by wife again.
• Adam’s gf ends up tagging along on night out, cuz she belives the BS that ethan needs a shoulder to cry on

 
ACT FOUR

• MIKE confesses to his wife about plan to be wrestler stand in at party adam is throwing
• At party, set up the fact that mike is gonna get beat up for calling wrestlers actors
• Cut to ethan. His bs sob story at the bar backfired. The girl from act one came back to him.
• Mike gets beat up at party
• Reveal that they have been prepping for a memorial thing for dead ben their friend the whole time
• LATER they give speeches for ben: that’s the heart of the show. Bla bla bla.
• It all comes full circle as ladies man ethan does the asking permission dance with his gf type sherry.
