Everyone loves her, even though she’s opinionated. We meet Caroline, the new waiter. VERY fussy. Not at all like our lead Max who we already met. SCENE 2: Max begs for Lee to fire Caroline. He refuses. SCENE 3: Max ‘trains’ Caroline. We get GREAT exposition. OMG so good. Consider: Would it be good to follow the person ALREADY THERE when Jack arrives? We get ALL the exposition and we move on to Caroline trying to actually waitress. Note: We don’t get Caroline’s story right away. Page 14 and it’s still being teased out that she’s never waitressed before. Note: Max had a SHITTY AND ABSENTEE DAD!! JUST LIKE THE OTHER SHOWS. SCENE 5: Caroline loves Max’s cupcake. Also Max is really nice – she splits the tips with Caroline even though C didn’t really earn it. Then there’s a funny bit with Han, not knowing the holidays, then they leave. SCENE 6: Max and Caroline debrief each other on their living situations. Part ways outside the restaurant. SCENE 7: We meet Max’s BF. He’s a douchebag. We learn how important the cupcakes are to her. But he seduces her so she doesn’t make them that night. SCENE 8: The next morning. On the subway. Caroline tazes Max. Was she sleeping on the subway? END OF ACT 1 ACT 2 SCENE 1: Picks up where we left off. Max just got tazed. Max invites Caroline to her place. Note: Holy shit Max is VERY nice. Whenever she has the opportunity, she’s nice. Except for people who don’t deserve niceness (like Oleg). SCENE 2: The girls get back to Max’s place. Max gives her a quick, jogging tour. Once again, they hit that Caroline is not used to this lifestyle. We also learn that Max has a second job. SCENE 3: Max at job number 2 as a babysitter. Her boss is a big character. Socialite shitty young mom with giant ring. Described well. That’s really it. SCENE 4: The shitty bf hits on Caroline. She leaves, standing up for Max. SCENE 5: Caroline tells Max that Max’s bf sucks. Max gets annoyed and leaves Caroline alone with a restaurant full of hipsters after a concert let out. END OF ACT 2 ACT 3 SCENE 1: Max discovers the guy cheating on her. SCENE 2: Max kind of makes up with Caroline, without having to really say it to her face. SCENE 3, LATER – STILL AT THE DINER: Caroline reveals that she made the cupcakes more expensive and made a shit ton of money. Tries to talk Max into selling them big time. SCENE 4: Max hints that Caroline could stay with her. This scene is just like, ¼ page. SCENE 5: Caroline and Max bond. Max asks if there’s anything in the city that Caroline needs to pick up. (It’s a horse). SCENE 6: Caroline floats the idea of opening a cupcake shop together. Max seems skeptical. TITLE CARD: $387.25 THE END

NOTEThese outlines are not polished and they are not politically correct. They are bare bones and often do no justice to the script or the writers of said script. Posting the outlines here so they can be easily referenced when working on new pilots. Also thought they might be helpful to other writers out there. Archives
